Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2017 130 is a pure Xarel.lo sparkling wine from a very dry year, really the same base wine kept for 42 months in bottle (under crown cap). It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, where it was kept with the lees for six months before it was put in bottle to referment and age sur lie. The name comes from the 130 very old vines planted by his grandfather that go into this blend. The wine is very harmonious, elegant and nuanced, fresh and balanced, clean and precise with subtle aromas. This is very fresh and is aging slowly and feels very apt for food, as it has lively acidity and a dry finish. It developed further complexity in the glass, with an acute note of licorice. 6,000 bottles were produced. The bottle I tasted had just been disgorged.
