Description
Bérêche Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru comes from the Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru region, specifically from the «Les Chalois» plot. This wine stands out for its provenance from a 0.40 ha plot, located at an altitude of 170 m with a 5% slope. The vines that give rise to this wine have an average age of 60 years, which brings a unique richness and complexity to the final product.
Winemaking
The terroir from which this wine originates is the Grande Montagne de Reims Nord. The soil is deep, brown in colour and composed of clay and chalk. As for the grape variety, it is composed entirely of 100% Pinot Noir. The elaboration of Bérêche Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru is meticulous and detailed. A slow fermentation is carried out in oak barrels, followed by ageing on the lees. Foaming is carried out with a natural cork stopper, and the wine spends 54 months in the cellar. Bottled with a final dosage of 3 g/L (Extra Brut), which gives it a perfect balance.
Taste
Bérêche Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru is a wine that has been praised by wine experts all over the world. Antonio Galloni describes it as brilliant and wonderfully taut, with predominant mineral and floral notes. Plum, grappa, jasmine, white pepper and crushed rocks. Wine Advocate, meanwhile, highlights notes of pear, yellow apple and peach, complemented by hints of warm bread, hazelnuts and white flowers. The acidity is vibrant and the finish is intensely saline. Other critics have also praised its flavour, mentioning aromas of violet, cherry and orange, and highlighting its power and elegance on the palate.
